WHAT IS BASIC ENGLISH MASTERY?
Basic English Mastery is a specialised training designed to help teachers as writers so as to become a more competent English Teacher.
The objective of this training is to empower teachers and parents to become more confident in their knowledge of grammatical terms and concepts, and more confident in their ability to teach those concepts to their students.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
the sentence and sentence parts in early childhood years
Session 1 introduces the concept of the kernel sentence as a starting point for teaching the syntactic patterns of sentences in English. The lesson will follow a series of steps that invite young children to use their English vocabulary to develop concepts of words and phrases that add information to the basic noun and verb of the kernel sentence.
usage of noun groups, adjectival phrases &clauses in simple and complex sentences
Session 2 address methods to use when teaching children the difference between phrases and clauses, and three different ways of describing nouns. Concepts of noun group and expanded noun group will be explored as part of a lesson strategy to assist students to develop descriptive writing.
Teaching Complex Sentences and choices for writing
Session 3 introduces the teaching of the knowledge and use of clauses in complex and compound sentences. Sentence variety and vocabulary choice are the instruments for developing personal style in writing.

MEET YOUR TRAINER
Dr Rod Campbell AM PhD is a teacher, writer and consultant whose professional experience includes English language, literacy education, grammar instruction, curriculum theory and application, teaching practices, assessment practices in education and training, developmental psychology and classroom research. He has trained teachers for early childhood and primary classrooms and is also highly experienced in middle and senior levels of schooling.
